I saw this picture a few years back while surfing the net when I was in the military stationed in Iraq. I heard rumors... In the TWITTERSPHERE about a Ghostbuster remake, or sequel in the works. Umm... Guys... They brought back "The 3 Stooges" for crying out loud! Even Harrison Ford geared up for another Indiana Jones! I think the real question of 2012 in which every movie fanatic, and culture aware American is asking themselves is... Where the Hell are the Ghostbusters?
I think it's mainly because the 80's children (babies) have all grown up now. We are adults with jobs, children, and our own grownup problems. What happened to the days when we could pick up a phone and "know who to call", or watch a cartoon that says we could? Now a days it's going online and finding out things that way. Even this blog is proof that times have certainly changed with movies, technology, and music. Ghostbusters, an Ivan Reitman film, is now a classic film. I remember when GB2 was brand new. I was around 8 or 9 years old but still old enough to know a big deal when I saw one. The poster of the "No Ghost" sign was holding up a peace sign to symbolize the sequel. I first saw the poster when our Dad took us to see "Masters of the Universe" at the movie theater. Every young child in the 80's at that time loved the Ghostbusters. (At least in Maryland) Bobby Brown was one of the hottest acts in hip-hop and R&B. His song took the movie to new heights, being that the first GB did not have but one or two good songs on the soundtrack.
It goes without saying, and there is a lot to say about the Ghostbusters from fans all around the world, since the success of the Ghostbusters in the 80's we have been long overdue for a new GB franchise. The picture above is a depiction of a rumor that was started a few years back that the "new" Ghostbusters would be from the cast of "The 40 Year Old Virgin." Though it would be funny, and definitely interesting having Seth Rogan, Steve Carrell and the gang bust ghost for a living, has anyone seen one episode of the hit TV show NCIS? If you have, you know that those characters (Dinnozo, Mcgee, and Palmer) are more fit to play the personalities, and looks wise to being a new version of the original Ghostbusters. They should pick from that TV show, and call the new movie "The Real" Ghostbusters. This was the name of the cartoon series that experienced copyright infringement issues during that period of time. Instead of just calling the new franchise Ghostbusters III, which hopes have died long after the 90's, "The Real Ghostbusters" will allow the director to reinvent the franchise with younger blood, better special effects, and a steeper plot! But I'm no movie expert. What do you guys think? Who would you call?
